From $12,000 a Month to $50K: How ProFit’s Business Accelerator Vaulted Rise Training to a New Level in Just 18 Months
Written by Emily Beers
Chase Morlock had reached his breaking point.

“I was doing the classic 4 am until 7 pm every day, just grinding, training all day everyday, getting burnt out,” said Morlock, the owner of Rise Training and Fitness in Moorehead, Minnesota, a gym he had owned for seven years.

“My wife was like, ‘What’s the point of this business? You’re gone all the time and you don’t make any money,” he added.

It was time to make a change, but he wasn’t sure what those changes should be.
How it All Started
Like many small gym owners, Morlock went to school for exercise science and knew he wanted to become a fitness coach.

Seven years ago, his father passed away, and Morlock moved in with his mom.

Before he knew it, he was training her in the garage. One thing led to another, and pretty soon he was training his mom’s friend and then some neighbors joined, as well.

All of a sudden he had a business, but “I knew nothing about business,” Morlock admitted.

Still, Morlock pushed ahead, got an LLC moved into a proper building, and even with “zero business acumen,” his gym started to grow.

“But then year two, COVID hit and just kind of depleted everything,” he said. To make matters worse, three years into gym ownership his landlord decided to sell the business and he had to find a new space that caused him to take on more overhead than he probably should have.

Fast-forward to 2023 and Morlock realized the change he needed to make was to seek business help.

A friend recommended ProFit’s Business Accelerator Coaching Program, and in the summer of 2023, Morlock signed up.

“I’m an all in kind of guy…so I just dove in,” he said.

At the time, his business was grossing approximately $12,000 a month, his average client value was around $225 a month, he was stuck at 100 members, and no matter what he did, he just couldn’t seem to grow

“We knew we needed 200, even 300 members in this model and it was clear at that point that this model wasn’t going to work for us,” he added.
Three Key Takeaways from Business Accelerator
1. Semi-Private Training Makes the Difference
As Morlock made his way through the program’s modules, it became evident that the large group class model he had been relying on was hindering his success.

The more he dug in, the more he was convinced that the semi-private, paired with individual design model “made more sense on all fronts,” not only for the business, but also for the coach and the client.

As a result, the most significant takeaway from going through the program for Morlock was switching to the semi-private coaching model, which he did in the late spring of 2024.

Doing so helped him immediately double his average client value, and quickly triple his monthly gross revenue.

As a result, by the summer of 2024, Morlock hit the minimum $30,000 monthly revenue requirement to join ProFit’s Iron Circle, a mastermind group made up of elite gym owners.

Being part of the group has only contributed to further growth for Morlock (more on that in a minute).

2. An Actual Marketing Plan
Morlock admits, prior to the Business Accelerator, he was a “classic” small gym business that didn’t do any marketing.

“We had no marketing budget of any shape or form, and we never paid for an ad,” he said.

Taking the Business Accelerator, though, taught him the “math of marketing,” he explained, convincing him that it’s a key component of growing his business.

“We dove into paid ads for the first time and watched the explosive growth happen,” he said.

Ultimately, he has learned that if you’re putting money in and what’s coming out is greater than you’re spending, “then we’ll keep the gas on it and keep pressing,” he said.

The result: When Morlock first switched to semi-private training, he had only three members, all of whom were existing members he got to switch from the big group class to semi-private.

Today, he has 110 semi-private members, which he attributes to the marketing and paid ads, as well as referrals, that have come in because of what he learned in the Business Accelerator program.

3. A Coaching Team that has his Back
Prior to the Business Accelerator Coaching Program, Morlock was the only full-time coach in his gym.

“I was coaching almost every session,” he said.

Today, he has three full-time coaches who earn full salaries, as well as four part-time coaches. As a result, Morlock has managed to pull himself off the floor completely, so he can focus on coach and business development. Morlock credits what he learned through the Business Accelerator for this.

Making the Changes
For any small gym owner, the thought of doing a complete overhaul on the way you run your business can be daunting to the point of causing crippling overwhelm that prevents you from taking action.

Morlock, though, said it wasn’t overwhelming at all, largely because of the step-by-step implementation process the Business Accelerator gave him, as well as the confidence ProFit Gym Business Coaches Tim Lyons and Randy Angsten instilled in him.

“A great coach gives you confidence, and Tim and Randy did that,” he said, adding that they were also great at showing him the numbers and why semi-private training makes more sense for the coach, the client and the business. Their message was powerful, and Morlock realized he would “much rather” run his business that way, he said.

“They really helped give me that confidence to make the decision to make the move,” he added.

Further, when he did have questions or concerns, he could reach out and would always get a reply immediately to help him navigate the obstacle, helping to reduce the overwhelm even further.

Where he is Today
Since joining the Iron Circle, Morlock’s business has continued to grow to a place where he’s hitting $50,000 monthly revenue.

Further, his 110 semi-private training clients are now paying between $400 and $500, up from $200 to $250 a year-and-a-half ago.

Morlock credits being part of the Iron Circle with his continued growth since implementing the changes he did after taking the Business Accelerator Coaching Program.

“It’s a pretty special group to be a part of. You’re taking some of the top dogs in the world [and putting them together] in a room….And this group just shares. There’s nothing held back. We don’t view ourselves as competing with each other. Everyone shares their great ideas, and you take stuff that you like and you adapt it and make it your own. This group is just finding ways to help each other every single day,” he said.
Morlock’s Message
To other small gym owners who are in the shoes Morlock was in 2023, he urges you to ask for business help.

While Morlock was used to having a coach, as he played college football and was a wrestler, when he opened his business, for some reason, he thought, ‘Oh, I can do this on my own.’

“I took me about five years of thinking hard work was going to pay off, but I got to the point where I was banging my head against the wall,” he said. And then he realized that yes, consistent hard work is one piece of the puzzle, but that “consistent hard work over time with great coaching is going to equal success,” he said.

He added: You can work as hard as you want, but if you’re off target, that hard work is going toward nothing. My story is case in point. [We hired a coach], made a shift and things started clicking.”

Grinding from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. and still stuck at $12K/month? Chase was, too.

Then he joined the Business Accelerator, switched to semi-private, built a team—and hit $50K months within 18 months.
